Celina Jaitly may be going through the best time of her professional life but the actress says that she has just come out of a really low phase on the personal front. “My brother who works with the UN peacekeeping force met with a serious accident recently, and that had my entire family in a state of shock. Things are settling down now though. We are moving on in life. Testing times only teach us that life is full of surprises. We come out stronger each time,” she said adding, “But things are looking up. I am busy with many films now and life is coming along well too.” To a stronger Celina, then!

Ask her what else is news at her end and she says, “I had a fun time on a recent talk show I attended. Apparently, I have a big fan following in Iran and Afghanistan and I was invited to be a part of an Iranian talk show. When I reached the channel’s studio in Los Angeles, I was surprised to see atleast a thousand Iranians and Afghanis waiting for me outside. And they wanted to know everything about me – somebody even asked me if my mane is real! That was when I asked a member of the crew to come, run his hand though my hair and tell everybody that it is real. It was so funny!”

Celina is looking forward to seven releases this year and says that she has had no time off at all. “I have back-to-back shooting schedules. It is a really busy time for me. In fact, the last one year has gone by so fast that I haven’t had any time to think. There’s Bollywood, Hollywood, my new house in Goa and I am also the brand ambassador of Egypt! I have my hands full,” she says. Shall we call you the busiest bee of Bollywood then, Celina?

Celebrity Intro
Celina Jaitley or Jaitly was born in India on November 24th 1981. She was crowned Miss India in 2001. She has appeared in several movies and music videos (including the Bombay Vikings' Zara Nazron Se Kehdo video). Jaitley's father is a former Indian Army Officer, and her mother a child psychologist by profession, as well as a former beauty queen. She has one brother, who is serving in the Indian army. She grew up in different cities and mostly spent her time in Kolkata, India. Celina was raised as a Hindu. She has said that when she was young, she wanted to join the army herself, either as a doctor or a pilot.

She was a finalist in the Miss Universe 2001 contest. In addition to her title of Miss India, Celina has won the Miss Margo Beautiful Skin, Indiatimes Surfer's Choice, and MTV's Most Wanted awards.

In 2007 Celina flew to New Zealand and shot her first international movie "The Quest of Sheherzade", a romantic comedy. Whilst there she was targeted by a stalker who had followed her from India. Celina was said to be traumatised by the experience.

Celina was born on June 9th 1981 in Kabul, Afghanistan to a Punjabi Kashmiri father and an Afghani mom. Celina was raised as a Hindu. Celina has a brother, who is serving in the Indian army. Celina shot to fame when she won the Miss India- Universe crown in 2001. At the Miss Universe competition she was the semi-finalist. As a reigning Miss India, Celina got many Bollywood movie offers; she signed Feroz Khan’s ‘Janasheen’ as her debut movie, but ‘Khel’ was her first movie to be released. In ‘Janasheen’, Celina tried to recreate the 70’s Zeenat Aman era and got tagged as a sex symbol. Celina also made news when she started dating Hollywood star John Cusack’s Brother Bill Cusack. After being physically harassed by a fan in Mauritius, Celina has hired personal bodyguards. Celina won a lot of appreciation for her role in ‘No Entry’. Despite not being able to make her mark as a talented actress, Celina has managed to work with some of the biggest Bollywood banners.

Celina when literally translated means the goddess of moon. How prophetic of her parents who named her so! Today she shines like a moon on the skyline of glamour world, having made it big in India and missing the top slot in the world by a small margin. She was fourth runner up in the Miss Universe beauty pageant of year 2001, held in Puerto Rico. Celina is one of the latest additions to India’s ever growing list of defence personnel’s daughters who made it big in beauty pageants and then entered the film world.

She is daughter of a Punjabi father who was an Indian Army officer. Her mother is an Afghan and is a child psychologist by profession. She was born in 1981, and stands 5”6’ in socks. Her nickname is Chinky. Her schooling was done all over the country due to the frequent transfers of her father. She had to change thirteen schools till her Board exams. Presently her family stays in Bangalore. Celina’s past five generations have served the army and there was a point of time in her life, when she was also tinkering with the idea of taking the Combined Defence Services exam.

But destiny willed otherwise. She graduated in Commerce and fetched her a marketing job for a Cell phone company in Kolkatta. There she participated in a local beauty contest just for the heck of participation and to everybody’s surprise she emerged victorious. This gave her a boost and she sent her pictures for the Miss India contest. Just a day before the preliminary rounds were to begin Celina got the invitation to participate. Soon she walked away with the coveted, Miss India crown bagging almost every title from Best Skin to Best Clothes to MTVs most wanted.

This title win enabled her to participate in the Miss universe title. But Indian girls had won it for three consecutive years. There was an immense pressure on her persona with press flooding her with questions about rigging. She was weighed down by this pre –contest scepticism and it did cast its impact on the final outcome. Celina was adjudged fourth runner up from amongst 83 contestants.
Having joined films she made her debut with Feroze Khan’s thriller Jansheen with Fardeen Khan. Despite her exposure role the film could not do a brisk business. She has also starred in Khel, which had in its cast Sunny Deol and Sunil Shetty besides the former test cricketer Ajay Jadeja. But despite all the euphoria it generated, Khel came a cropper at the box office.
